1957 Chevy

My 14 year old son has a 1957 Chevy Sedan with a 283 engine. Some older guys in our Chevy car club are going to help my son rebuild his 283. Beleive it or not he wants to keep the 283 engine kind of old school and I agree. My question is the car has a 350 transmission, should we stay with this trans or go with something different? this car would be a daily driver, weather permitting. Thanks for any help we can get.

The 350 is a decent transmission and it gives a better range of gears over the stock Powerglide.

I agree, the 350 is a much better trans than the old glide.
