I am doing a frame off of a 1958 chev Belair. Has anyone installed an air ride suspension, and converted to a four link ??
Thanks

Yeah...on a 58 Impala, you could get air ride suspension from the factory........They didnt work well, so were discontinued.

Modern ones, I dont know about, but it is popular with 58-64s, so I dont see why not.

depends if you want to lay frame or not i recomend it but you may have to cut the floor pans for it and maybe to notch the frame for the rear axle.

Well first off there is no reason to take what you have out of the rear right now which is essentially a factory wishbone three link. That system works well and the geometry is already there. Ponch is correct in saying that the 58-59-60 Impala's and caddy's were offered with factory air. There was actually not any problems with the airsprings themselves. The problem actually lied in the control system which was mechanically a mess. That is what caused the high problem rate with those cars. With todays aftermarket systems that are available the problems of the old days are gone. I am pretty versed in the 58-64 chassis and I actually currently own 2 61's,... which are identicle to yours with the exception that your car uses an upper wishbone and the 59-64's go to a signle upper bar.......
