I'm almost sure it was a 390 (325 hsp???) engine and a 3 speed automatic tranny but I have no idea "exactly" what tranny.

wretched ratchet is correct about the engine. The Caddy used the Hydramatic transmission in 1960.

No but I had one when I was in High School, 67/68. 390 cubes. The El Dorado came with tri-power and 360 hp I believe.

Thanks but that is an OLD pic, LOL Like 41 years ago.
It was the ride I had after I built my first car at 15, a 54 Merc.
What the heck, might as well post that pic also. I JUST got this photo back after giving it to a GF not long after finishing it in 1966. I started it in 1965 and built it over the winter. I ran into her brother on line, then into her. She still had the photo and a Jr. Prom photo. She mailed them back wrapped in plastic. Amazing. I never thought I'd ever see my old Merc again.

Its a tough one to pinpoint.

The engine should definitely be a 390. The tranny had an odd shift pattern that went PNDDLR, and had an un-selectable OD. It was called the Jet-Away or Strato-Flite depending on the car it was in. It was technically part of the Hydramatic family, and most likely called the JetAway in your Caddy.

cutis73 is right about it being called the Jetway in the Cadillac. If I remember correctly the shift pattern was P-N-D-S-L-R. I don't think it had overdrive but was just a four speed but could be wrong on that one.

edit- I found the ratios for the four speed. They are: 3.96:1, 2.55:1, 1.55:1, and 1.00:1.
