1960 Ford Falcon Tranny options

Hello,

I just purchased a 1960 Frod Falcon Ranchero. It needs some work to say the least. It has a 200ci engine out of a 1964 Fairlane with a 3 speed shifter on the floor. Well, I had the car a week when the transmission went out. I took it to a shop that doesn't seem to have a friggen clue. They quoted me $5500 to repair each little bolt, gear etc. This is FN Crazy. I don't need to tell you what could be done wih this kind of money.

My question is this. What transmissions will fit this engine? I am not a stickler to originality, I just want to drive my damn car. The engine was fairly popular, even into the 80's. Could a 4 speed be connected, a C3 or C4. I know there have to be other options that should not top $2500, or even $2000, I could be wrong, but.....

Looking for out of the box thinking.

Thanks in advance.

Run a search

on used auto parts it will take you to search Canada and USA salvage yards for your transmission. This is a 3 speed made in England with straight cut gears junk yards should be full of them

The early 3spd is the 2.77 3spd. a POS. You can swap it out with a 3.03 3spd from a '66?-later car. There common as dirt and you shouldn't pay more than $300ish for a good 1. V8 trans should also work. you have the right bell as it never changed
