frame

I do know they changed in 65 to a perimeter frame but I think they were all X frames before that...I think as long as you get a 2 door frame...if you have a 2 door car you should be ok...the 4 door frame is longer ..I think...it should be anyway..

Minor differences between the 59-64 frames, but all critical dimensions are the same.
59 has two extra body mounts that the 60-64 cars do not have.

wheelbase is the same on all bodystyles of the full size cars----
119" if I remember correctly

I have a BelAir frame under my 59 Elky

Bryan is right about the chassis... main changes were from 58-59. I would shoot for a 59-64 chassis or you could look at one of the perimieter conversion chassis that Progressive has. Those are nice pieces... I used one on my 61.

Went back to orginal Plan

I have decided to fix the frame myself. I will just cut out the bad sections of the frame and weld in new pieces. I plan on making the replacement pieces in 3 pieces bottom and 2 sides welded to it to make a C bottom channel. The upper part of the rear of the frame is solid..but the bottom ...not so much... So I will just be cutting the frame halfway down and removing it like a curved C section ( what I call the rear wheel kickup) Then I will make it in 3 pieces and weld it and then weld it in the frame.. Like Morrison frames ...thats how they make their frames...they don't bend anything.

not knockin ya because actually most aftermarket frames are made out of flat stock and boxed however, most of Morison's stuff is Mandrel bent.
