1962 impala rear end choice

hello
having a 1962 impala
i dont yet what kind of engine I will put in it , but for sure i want some hp
i will drive it as daily driver , no drag racing at all

now my wondering is more about the rear end ..

keep the original with the original gears and axle ???
make it stronger ? better gears and axle?

use a 9 inch ford? ( this sound expansive....)

find a use 9 inch ? ( wich one )

find a 12 bolts ?( wich one )

i can do some metal work and welding

if anyone have done on impala that let me know , i like better the do it my self than buy every thing new

thankks

I've had a bunch of cars with the 57-64 rear end under them (55-56 are weaker). I wouldn't say they're bulletproof by any means, but there's a lot of newer rears not as strong. for a street cruiser… use the one ya got.

There are parts available for the '55-'64 8.2 rear end that make it stronger. IT might not be cheap, but it would be easier than building another rear end.
