1963 Ford 352 Marine Engine

hello,
I am new to this forum and have a ford 352 240 hp interceptor marine engine (RH rotation looking from rear)with a burnt valve (#2 cylinder). Rather than pulling the heads I am thinking of purhcasing a long block and transferring all needed parts from the 352.. Questions:
1. can I purchase either a 352 or 390
2. regardless of what I purhcase do I need to use my old cam?

Note: I am trying to minimize costs .

thank you

You need to have the proper cam and given the age of what you have a new cam and lifters should be part of your rebuild plan...

Externally, a 352 is the same as most any other Ford FE engine. This engine was made as a 332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 428, and 427. Truck versions of this engine were 361, and 391. There was also an OHC 427, with about ten feet of timing chains.

Rotating clockwise, viewed from the rear, is a reverse rotation engine. The engine has a reverse grind camshaft, and the distributor is also different. Additionally, if the pistons have offset piston pins, they may be installed differently to accommodate reverse rotation.

Probably the cheapest way to just get it running again is to pull the heads, and do a valve job. But that may not be a good idea if the piston rings are worn.
