I used to have an 89 Caprice with a factory TBI 305/200r4/2.56 combo in it. It would pretty much idle down the highway.

IMO the 200r4 has the best gearing of any GM auto, including the newer 6 speeds.
2.74:1 1st gear and 0.67:1 OD.
