Post 1964 Ford brakes

Has anyone here put disc brakes on the front of a 1964 Ford Galaxie? I am trying to find out what kind I can adapt without using some aftermarket kit that you can never find replacement parts for.

Thumbs up

The Granada/Monarch (Maverick/Comet) seems to be the most popular. Single piston sliding caliper.

I put Granada brakes on a 67 Fairlane and they work great but the suspension is different on the 64 so I don't think Granada style will work.

They need to be reworked to accept the '64 ball joint taper. -Fatman Fabrications- sells a set reasonable.

There are other options. The '65/'66 Bird came with four piston Kelsey-Hayes or you can adapt from a later Galaxie/LTD.

We are doing a swap over on a 64 comet and are using a 75 mercy Monarch! direct swap. rear end as well minus the rear end yokes. they are different. a little cut here and there and the driveshaft will match.....the a arms and everything swap directly over

I guess I need to clarify this...Only the spindles from the GRANAD/MONARCH are used (along with the caliper/rotor) on the big FORD. The suspension type is different but not relevant.

The spindles have to have the ball joint holes resized to accept the big FORD ball joint studs.
