Got a test light or voltmeter?
Confirm that you in fact have power to the coil by grounding the test light and checking both low voltage posts on the coil, while cranking if possible. If you have no light there is no +12V getting to the coil. It should be flashing while you crank the engine if all is good when testing one side of the coil, it should be on fairly steadily on the other side of the coil. If no light or voltage disconnect the points from the scene and try again. Does your system use a ballast resistor or the 'resistive wire' that drops voltage? Both can go bad. |
