I have had limited success using paint paddles and tapping with a hammer from the bottom side moving very slow to just release the lip. I almost always plan on new ones.
there used to be a tool for that i had one and kept the top jaw covered with duct tape to keep from scratching. looked like a pair of pliars with a t welded to both jaws about 2 1/2" wide, the top smooth on the underside the bottom had seration grippers, drip rail trim practically falls off . try a trim shop they used to use them before applying or removing vinyl tops.
