Word of mouth is probably the best way to find a good shop. Attend some local car shows and ask the participants. How do you find local car shows? Check the bulletin boards at the local speed shops. How do you find the local speed shops? Yellow Pages under Auto Parts, sub-heading Auto Performance, Race and Sports Equipment.
Pick up a copy of Hot VWs magazine. There are several good shops that carry everything from restoration to engine performance parts in LA. I have a restored 66 fastback I did for my son. We ordered a lot of parts from Jbugs in Oceanside. Reasonable pricing and fast shipping. If I remember there is a place near Dodger stadium called ECI?
I noticed you are Carson. There is a place in Carson called ISP west. Google them. They can be a little pricey but sell quality restoration parts. Really check on line for the best pricing.
