1965 Gran Sport done

I'm kind of pissed cause this left the shop and I didn't get to take any photos. Grrrrrr!

This was a prime once deal and it's a little wavy in the quarters cause we didn't know it was only getting primed once til it was masked up for primer. Nice heads up, eh? Funny cause the doors were the worst part of the car but since I skimmed the whole thing they came out perfect.

It's beautiful but I wonder if the owner knows that it has 64 front sheetmetal.

Other than that it looks like it could be my car! I honestly think yours has a straighter body. I did a "nice" job but didn't go off on it.

It's a chick. we probably could have put Mustang fenders on it and she wouldn't have noticed. j/k. The big delay on this was the Gran Sport emblem for the dash. All I heard was that it was a couple hundred dollars and no one knew where it was for a week. Then it just popped up and everything was fine and dandy. Maybe it's not a Gran Sport though? I just started calling it that cause I saw the emblem and I think taillights.

Who knows if it is a Gran Sport, it's hard to say. Is the battery mounted on the drivers side? Being it's a convertible it already has the boxed frame (all Gran Sports had a Convertible frame regardless of body).

If it was a 64 it would have a down flow radiator. There were no Gran Sports in 64, in fact they were introduced in Jan of 65 so they were a mid year introduction. The brakes are different the wire harness is different, there are a number of things. So far it looks like it is very possible, but simply has a 64 front end.

that's how it came, that's how it left. I'm sure if the customer wanted to get picky about that stuff I'm sure it would have been dealt with. Bottom line, this isn't our best work. Just a little driver resto clean up and go. As a tech, I hate these jobs though.
