1965 Impala ss 283 Oil problem

Just partially rebuilt (new rings/heads/lifter/timing set) a 283 for a 1965 impala ss restoration project. Heads were done by a local machine shop. Put engine back in fired it up ran good except no oil in the passengers side head!(pushrods) pulled intake off to investigate everthing appears good. to my inderstanding oil is delivered to that side by the distributor?? Should the distributor cavity be full of oil when i crank the engine?? possible worn distributor? i dont know what else to do. WHen i crank the engine there is not alot of oil in the distributor area?

Oil problem

You may want to check and see if you have an oil galley plug that has come loose on the front of the block. You have oil to one side so bearings and pump and lifters arent your problem. There may also be something plugging the oil galley that feeds oil to the lifters.
