Post 1965 Mustang 7 3/4" ring and pinion.

I have a 7 3/4" ring and pinion 2:80-1 in my car, is it possible to put in a 8" ring and pinion as I can not find any listings for a 7 3/4"? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes. The 8" ring and pinion is used for service.

Thank you for the quick response and I hope you mean, by service, that I can replace the ring and pinion with any standard 8" ring and pinion? I want to replace it with a 3:73 or 3:83 and my axle splines are 28 tooth.

Yes again. I should have been more precise. The 8" actually stared as a 7 3/4" and the 9" actually started as an 8 3/4". Both were upgraded as time went along and the 8" ring gear will bolt to your case.

Sorry about that.

I believe that the ratios you listed are not available from FOMOCO.

Anyhing more than a 3.55 is aftermarket. And limited slips are like chicken lips.......hard to find.
