1966 chevelle wiper moter

what is the diff btw the 3 wire and the 4 wire other then the 3 wire cost alot more?? could i just get a 4 wire? my harness is all cut up so i could make new pig tails just need to know whats the difference

any help would be great thanks!

Doc here,

IF your talking about your 66 Chevelle..looks to be a TWO wire system, not 3 or 4..(see schematic)

If it's something else..could be anything.

Don't 66s have two speed wipers? That diagram only shows single speed.

Doc here,

Don't remember WHEN they went one to two speed..But that is the right diagram for a line produced car in 66..

On / Off seems to be the choice of the day back then though...

He can tell by looking at his switch, If it is on, low/Hi then it's a 3 wire , 2 speed system.

You are correct about the Chevelle having a one-speed wiper system. I assumed it was the same as my 66 442, which has two-speed, though the motor comes as either a 3 wire or 4 wire.
