1966 Chrysler 300
Got a question. My son is looking at a 1966 Chrysler 300, 2 door hardtop. It has been garaged for 20 years. Can be bought right. Question is, is this a full frame car? Were 440's installed in factory? By the nin, how can I tell what year it is?

It is NOT a full frame car. Mopars have been unibody cars since the late 50's. 440's were installed at the factory and if it is a 300 it could have a 383 or 440. If its a 383 it would have had 325 hp. There were two different 440's available that year one with 350 hp. and one with 365 hp. If its a '66 the vin should have 13 digits. If its earlier it will have 10. There are several Mopar Vin Decoders available on the net, just do a Google search and take your pick.

5th character is the engine the car left the factory with. K will be a special order
2nd character is price class E,M,P economy, midrange, premium being a 300, will be either a "M" or a "P" Even my stripped down 440TNT/4spd 1967 300 had an "M" classification. (no radio, heater, insulation----but did have disc brakes & posi )
