My friend Gary had so many questions,Im just going to say,if its real, then buy it. He asked if you can confirm that it is a 427 side oiler. He says not many cars came with a 427 auto....
A 427 side oiler engine is in the 10s of thousands(He has 2 of those engines)

428 most likely

If he is real lucky it will be a 427. Check the vin code and see if there is a vin on the engine, go to a ford site to see where to look for the side oiler hump on the block, cross bolts for the mains, Vin code chart. Some fords had auto trans cooler lines bolted to the block and guys have mistaken them for the main bearing cross bolts. Shelby did start to use 428's in the Cobra's near the end of the production and some european cobra's chassis were built over there with 428 auto's.

7 Litres For Sale

Assuming it's originally a 7L and not just a 'badge job', it would need to be a manual to be a 427. I seem to remember it was ALL manual, brakes, steering, etc. So this one's a 428, presumably.

Still a sweet ride. I'd offer $2500- $3000 for it and see what that got me for a counter offer.
