Do a google search for 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix,it should take you to www.musclecarclub.com There was for sure a 1966 pontiac Grand Prix made,and they have a bit of history to go with them.Parts might be a little hard to find,although the aftermarket would have a lot of stuff available.Canadian versions probably came with Chevy engines,so putting a small or big block in is pretty easy.In good condition they are a valuable car,you dont see many around,at least not here in Nova Scotia.

 Go to this site and take a look.. Pontiac photos I didn't see a G.P. listed until 1969...but I'm not a Pontiac Guy..  They do list 2 door and Convertible (generic) .. maybe that is what he means? Doc

They started making the Grand Prix in 62....a very good year.
Until 69 it was based on the full size Pontiac....In 69, it went to a mid size body............of it's own design.

36,757 Pontiac Grand Prix were made in 1966, so yup they were made. information from www.carnut.com just checked.
 there 1 is, a '66 Grand Prix 2dr hardtop

IMHO, the 66 G/P is a gorgeous car.
I have a soft spot for the 65/66 big Pontiacs, and the G/P has that same body, but the best trim package. Its like a big GTO. I've only seen two or three in my life (I'm in my late 30s). One of the best parts is the taillight panel, IMHO.

My friend has a '66 Grand Prix with a 389 2bbl, the car is absolutely beautiful despite the crappy body work that has been done in the past. The only problem is people keep confusing it with a GTO or Bonniville for some reason.

Styling wise, it is very much an up-sized GTO. Combine that with its rarity, and general knuckle-headedness of John Q. Public, and they'll think its a GTO.
Speaking of styling, the following model year ('67), was the only year a convertible GP was ever offered.
