1967 c10 axle conversion questions

Im lowering the truck and have gotten a kit from ccp with 5 lug front rotors and need to swap out the rear axle from 6 lug to 5 lug, and was wondering .What axle I can put in, that has 5 lug to match the front.I just want to use the drum brakes on the 5 lug axle.Trying to keep the cost down.

Hi,
http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog....ry=New%20Items

The other option is to change the rear.

I installed a set of axles and drums from a 75 c10 truck into my 70 c10 rear end.

Real simple.

67 c-10 axle conversion

I know this wont help you, because you have the big bolt pattern on your rotors, but I converted my 1969 c-10 to 5x4 3\4 bolt pattern by using axles from a 1965 Impala. If I remember correctly they slipped right in.I dont recall any machine work. I used adapters on the front so I could run corvette rallys all around.

if you find a BIG 10 or a common heavy suspension package '77-80 years c-10 pickup it will have the 2.75" wide rear brakes if you take the backing plates and axle shafts and brake parts from that and put them on the '64-69 axle housing it will convert these to 5 lug with no width modifications

if you have coils spring type rear then you will be stuck with a '71 72 axle only

the 70-up axle housings are all a new wider width but '70 shafts are all 6 lug still. after 70 the only 6 lug shafts were the 4x4 ones, exact same shafts as the 1970 ones.

if you have leaf type rear then you can take any 12 bolt axle from a 2wd and put it under, but in 73 the shock mounts changed

454 c10 got away with '75 parts because he has a 70 c10 axle in which is same width housing and axle shaft length as 71-up

so another words the longer 70-up shafts wont work in a narrower '69 down axle unless you swap backing pates and all from a 2.75" wide brake axle.

Earlier '70 rears tended to be the same width as earlier years, since it was a mid-year change.
