1967 El Camino rear brake line

I'm in the process of changing over from 4 wheel drum to disk brakes up front and the stock drums in the rear.

I'm at the point of trying to get the Adjustable Proportioning Valve installed in to the rear brake line. The rear line that is there right now is 1/4 inch. The brake kit came with some 3/16th inch line.

Would it be ok to run the 3/16th inch line from the metering block (I believe that is what it is called) to the proportioning valve. Then have 1/4 inch line coming from the valve to the rear drums?

Thank you.

p.s. any hints / tips on making double flare ends would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like I'm going to need get get fittings no matter how I do this.

The Proportioning Valve has 5/16" thread (3/16" line) on the IN and OUT side of the valve.

The metering block has a 7/16" (1/4" line) coming out of the back and going to the rear.

The 1/4" line I got from the part store has 3/8 fittings on the ends.

Looks like I'm just going to take the stuff to NAPA and ask them how to do this.
