1967 El Camino "Safety Control"
i recently purchased a 67 El Camino that has a box in the bed, about 4" by 18" long. On the outside of the box it says "Safety Control". It's bolted in the bed, but I'm not sure what it is? Anybody ever heard of this?

Sounds like what you have is one of those devices that "Snake Oil Salesmen" sold years ago. The idea was that as you went around a corner it shifted an internal weight to the oppisite side of the unit , there by helping stability and increasing cornering speeds. The only thing they worked well for was helping feed the salesmans kids. Jack

Nope whu don't you crack it open and take a looksie and take some pictures?

Thanks, Jack. It does have some sort of weight inside-just didn't know what it was for.

Damn
Some people will buy ANYTHING :drunk: . Get that ridiculous thing out of the bed----unless you need it for traction. The 2nd Gen Elkies don't have the balance of the cars---or later Elkies |
