1967 Ford Fairlane rearend

I am updating the suspension on my Fairlane but unfortunately no one makes a 67 Fairlane specific suspension system. I am having RC motorsports out of SC do the suspension update. I will be putting a Mustang II IFS in the front but I'm not sure on how to handle the rear end. It has the stock ford 9" with drum brakes. I want to put larger 20X10 or 20X12 tires on the rear and get rid of the leaf spring set up so I can put an air bag system in it. Can I keep this rear end and just update the axles or do I need to get a new rear end all together?

Any help will be greatly helpful!

Shaun

You'll probably have to go to a 4 link suspension with your existing rear. I would think a few body mods would be needed to get those tires in. you may even have to mini tub it.

yea you are probably going to have to do some work here for that tire size.i have had 66/67/68 fairlanes they are pretty tight as far as big tires are concerend. they do look good all tucked under the car . cole

I am not sure this will help by now, but you should get fid of the leaf springs. I am starting the same thing on the same car and if you want to fit a large wheel/tire combo like that you need some mods. The leafs will get in the way of the tires, unless you offset them. Then they will hit the inside of the quarterpanels. Chances are, you will tub the car. Again, don't know if this is old news, but I just signed up here and I'm doing the same thing you are...
Good luck!
