1967 Idler Arm

Hello, I just joined today!
Anyway,
I went to a shop to get my entire suspension system rebuilt on my 1967 Mustang Coupe... Originally I was just in to get new shocks, something that I could have done, but I'm too lazy. They said that I needed ball joints, sway bars, and idler arms.

2 weeks later ( ) they called me saying that they did order an idler arm, but it was for power steering. So, I ran to an auto parts store real quick, because I didn't want to wait another week for them to order it. I took the arm into the shop and they said that it wouldn't work because it wasn't the right orientation or something. Somehow, the incline of the bar was reversed or some crazy stuff like that. He said that someone had probably replaced the entire system with a new, aftermarket one. I asked if I could buy an entire new one, but he said they don't make them anymore.

Could one of you guys help me find a website or a shop or something where I could get one?
Thanks,
Tony

I own/owned many 'stangs of all vintages and there are very few arm variations (power steering/manual is one), it is possible that the parts store gave you the wrong one , I've had it happen many times with older vehicles because the software used on most computers isn't as accurate as that for the newer more common stuff. It is also possible that they won't use your arm for gaurantee/liabilty reasons.

Well, I'm pretty sure its not the wrong part, because they looked it up in the book, and it didn't look like the power steering variation. Second, it was a pretty rural shop, and they let me walk around inside, so I don't think they were very concerned about liability.

Try NPD(national parts depot). They don't have an online catalog but call them (800 368-6461) and they will send you one.HTH. Norm.
