1967 Mustang Big Block Motor Mounts

I am restoring a 1967 Mustang "S" code with a 390 engine. The motor mount bracket that bolts to the block has two knurled studs that connect the upper Block) bracket to the rest of the mount. The studs are 7/16-14 by 1" knurled press-in studs. One of them twisted off and needs to be replaced.

I have driven the parts houses crazy looking for replacement studs but no one has them. Everyone I contacted sez buy a new set of upper brackets but $130 or so seems a lot.

I have thought of trying a wheel stud that would fit or just welding in a #8 bolt.

Anyone know where I could get the studs, a single replacement bracket or any suggestions on fixing my old one?

This place should be able to set you up with the part that you're wanting. He's not cheap but he's a very honest person.

edit;
I checked his site out and it looks he is higher than the prices that you got.

Those are called "ground studs".

Here's a mfg of them, they don't list a 7/16" version on the website but I am sure they can make anything you need since they are custom.

I'm assuming this is for originality for your restoration and want an exact match, if originality is not important I would just use a bolt tack welded to the plate...a lot cheaper.

I don't know what the stud looks like, but you might find something like it at McMaster Carr online, it's a huge industrial supplies place and you can buy direct from them.

Another option might be Fastenal

I think it's mcmaster.com

Thanks Guys,

I didn't find exactly what I was looking for but these are some good sources for the future.

I welded in a #8 bolt and it works fine. Just wanted to stay with original type parts if possible but after a little dressing up you have to look real close to tell the difference.

Thanks again.
