Giving both engines the same parts, both engines will make nearly the same power. The 305 powerband will be stronger down low, the 307 stronger higher up.
Neither will be as good as a larger engine, but if that's the two you have to work with, and if your Nova is an all steel car and has highway gears, the 305 would be a better DD/street engine, IMHO.
