Just looked on craigslist for that New Mexico car and couldnt find it. Just saw one in portland , almost identical 273 V8 car for 850 bucks.

they are out there. Seems there are quite a few 65 s out there 67-69s seem to be pretty rare.

A while back my to/from work car was a 71 valiant 4 door. It had the 318 with 340 engines hp cam.430/.444 lift in the 318 is awesome for that application. It was a stripper base model. 318 4 speed, 8 1/4 rear 3.31 gears open. It had a AVS 4barrel carb , and Edebrock streetmaster 318, single plane econo intake. Made more torque than the performer intake 0-4500rpm. As a package it was quick.

For what it was , A 4 door box, that was a fast car. Fast like ,the first 4 gears, of a 90's 5.0L 5 speed.

You could not kill it, just burn down the clutch disc, doing your worst. A shock absorber for the abuse.

AVS carb have little to go wrong. No leaks.

Had 4 wheel drums, brakes that lasted forever. You go 85k without changing shoes.

I sold the car, but kept the engine. The 323 stilll runs . Look in my photos for the 323 on the DIY stand.
