ok i got the email about the water pump so ill be taking that apart soon to check, but as far as the oil flow i havent check that 1,3,5,7, lifters get great flow 2,4,6,8, get very little flow , i have a 1968 service manual and i see the oil plugs , what i dont know is witch one have to be open and witch one should be plugged ,,,, also the motor came with an isky cam 901300 i install it the way the manual said TDC with the timing marks lined up it fires right up ,but dont know if that the was it should be . this is something that me and my 3 10yr old boys are doing . can some one help thanks Bet and the boys.

The plug that I was speaking of, that might have been left out, is at the back of the oil gallery that feeds the lifters in the right bank. That gallery terminates in front of the distributor shank. You would only be able to see it through the hole that the distributor goes into. In race engines, we use a plug with a hole drilled through it to oil the distributor gear.
