? on a 1968 Pontiac 350 rear main seal!!

On a 1968 350 Pontiac V8 is the rear main seal on the crankshaft a rope seal or rubber? If it's rope do they make a rubber one as a replacement ?

It is rope. There are a few companies making a neoprene seal as a retrofit.
Look on E bay , better yet go to butler performance.com. They have them there.

I got one from BOP engineering for my 455 but the rope seals work too.

That's good news! Thanks. We have the engine out of the car but I didn't want to pull the crank to put in a rope seal. Hopefully I can get the old rope seal out of the block.
