1968 - SB 327 - .60 over V/S 350 ???

What you think ?
I've heard nothing but good comments about the 68' 327
we have the block, and we are thinkin in bore .60
It won't be a 327 anymore because of the added displacement
what will it be ? , well, how is a 327 compared with the loved 350 ?
is it true that the 327 revs faster ? what's the pros and cons
of the 327 over a 350 ? It seems not many people messes with 327's
why ?

Thanks !

I calculate the result of a 60 over 327 to be 336ci -
The bore over the 327 and 350 were both 4" Generally, you'll find that quick rev of the 327 to be due to it's short 3.25" stroke. The longer stroke of the 350 is a help with the torque- Sure the 327 is a revving engine, and that makes it idea for light vehicles. If you've got a larger car- I think you'd appreciate a 350. It's not a slow revving engine either.
Take caution if you want to go 60 over though- Chevy somewhere recommended no more than 40, but I know of some 350s (and I think it's the same block) that run happy at 60 over. The machinist will check the block out before boring, I'm sure. - I wouldn't add a blower though

The 350 is more popular since it`s more cubic inches and cheaper to attain parts for. A .060 overbore will give you 10 more cubes so it would be a 337.
Some say the rev faster due to the shorter stroke but I think overall weight has alot to do with it as well. Not many build 327`s as there aren`t that many around anymore in the large journal size as they were only made 2 years before it was discontinued by GM. However in the new LS engine series when they released the 325 you`d hear guys saying "it`s a 327" and it`s not even close to the classic small block. The LS series looks like it was ran through a trash compactor. What I do when I`m looking to build a 327 is get a crank out of a 307 chevy and use a 350 block.

Same bore; 3.25" stroke vrs. 3.47" stroke

350 - 327 = 23 cubic inches

If you are able to make 1 HP per CI ...
that's 23 more HP with the 350!

These days most peole go with a 3.75" stroke
crank for the additional CI.
