Hey Doogle,
poncho is right- there are many suppliers for these cars. I just got a 70 SS396 without a stitch of interior in it- so I'm looking, too. I've compiled a list of 'em that I like pretty well. I like to do a lot of comparing, just to make sure I'm getting the best deal. Here's a few suppliers' sites: Goodmarkindustries.com , true-connections.com , chevroletrestorationworld.com , ls6454.com , and nationalpartsdepot.com . Chevelles.net has a huge list of suppliers also. I hope that helps.

1969 Chevelle Headliner Replacement

This thread appears to have "died" with no answers.

I removed my headliners about 5 years ago and am just getting back to replacing the interior. I sanded away all the rust on the inside of the roof, primed and then painted it. I do not think this part of the car ever gets paint from the factory.

First of all, I want to place a soundproofing (and heat reflecting) material on the roof before installing the headliner. Any problems with that?

My headliner is from Year One and I had every intention of letting a "pro" install it. The last headliner was replaced in 1987 and I paid about $100 and she supplied the material. I just got a quote and she now wants $250 to install it and I already bought the material! For $250 I am willing to ruin a couple of headliners learning how to do it myself.

First problem is I noticed that there are two holes where the each of the "ribs" or "bows" insert. Which ones are used?

There were tack strips all along the edges (now removed and cleaned). Any clues how to install the headliner and tack strips.

Since I intended someone else to do this, I did not take any notes when removing the old one, so if there are any do-it-yourselfers out there with tips and suggestions, please post them here.

Thanks in advance

When I get home, I will look and feel of my headliner and see if I can tell which hole/sleeve was used.
