1970 Buick Electra 455, Tranny swap

Hi guys i'm new to this forum. I have a few question about a swap out. At the moment i have an 1970 Buick Electra 455 with three speed transmission.Someone recommended me to use the 200r,then i was told i could use the 700 r. Now this is a transmission forum, i think this would give me the best knowledge i need. Thanks

With a 700, you would have to use a Chevy/BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) bellhousing adapter. The 200 came with either Chevy or BOP patterns.

As WD said the 2004R will bolt right up.
Either Trans will require some Upgrades to handle the 455's torque. The 2004R has more parts available for HiPer use. I recommend at the least swapping the stock Forward Drum for a Billet Forward Drum in the 2004R.
They can snap with a mild stock engine> http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/tra...ml#post2826144 then you have 6 neutrals & park.
