Thanks for the reply. I had already checked this site, but couldn't find the codes I have. I have rechecked the numbers twice. The code above the timing cover clearly ends in "RR". And the number on the block (passenger side, front of head) starts with C9F. I can't find an alpa-numeric code like this either.
I have always used the suffix code for Chevy engines. I have found it the most accurate. There are other casting numbers on the side of the block and at the back above the belhousing. I find them more general however.
It is possible that it was a replacement motor...........thus the strange numbers/letters.
Canadian blocks also sometimes didn't have the suffix code, but I have seen that mostly on small blocks.
Maybe, someone else knows more.
