1970 Chevy 402
I have a 1970 GMC p/u that I purchased last weekend. The owner said that they were cruising down the freeway in Houston. All of the sudden the truck shut off. They tried to restart it and the motor sounded like it had seized. They towed it home; dropped the starter and exchanged it @ O'reilly. They put the starter back on. They fired the truck up; but, it was making a loud screeching whine. They shut it down. They tried to figure what the noise was. They again attempted to start the truck and once again it didn't spin over. They took it over to a shop and the mechanic told him the motor was locked up!!!! I removed all the belts when I got it home. I spun the motor over; but, it was dragging. I placed the battery on a charger. I tried to start it again a few hours later and it did not spin over. I don't know if I need to pull the motor or not....The owner had been driving this p/u for the last 4 years w/o a problem.(Up until the day it died.) Can anyone help?Email me at mejias@awesomenet.net |
