i have a 1967 mustang with a 1970 302 v-8. i'm confused about adjusting the valves. everything i know about doing this adjustment says that the rocker arm stud nut should be fairly hard to turn, so that it won't move once it's been set. all of the rocker stud nuts i have spin quite freely. i ordered 16 new nuts from ford, part number d0az-6a529a, but they, too, spin quite freely.
shouldn't these nuts be somewhat hard to turn, and if so, where can i find the proper nuts? tia coolBreeze |

You have positive stop rocker arm studs and adjustment is only possible by collapsing the lifter and checking valve lash. U/S and/or O/S pushrods are then used to get the desired lash. You will either have to go to screw in studs (same as mechanical cam) or use the earlier press in studs and rocker arms. |
