1970 Lincoln Mk III rear end question

I have a rear end from a 1970 Lincoln Mk III. It has a 9 3/8" center section with 2.70 gears, and 31-spline axles. I am replacing the center with a 9" 3.70 limited slip unit. Anyway, there are some kind of gadgets located on the ends of the axles, by the brakes. There are wires coming out of these things. I have to guess that these units are sensors for something, but I don't have a clue what. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Since this rear is going into a '27 Ford roadster, I really don't think I will be needing these things. So can I just remove them and forget them, or will I be kicking myself later? Thanks

I'm not sure what they are, but for a generic application like yours you can ignore or remove them, they would only be of use to an installation in the original Lincoln. May be some type of "E-brake left on" sensor or or pad wear sensor.

Some of the Lincolns had "Skid Control" that may be what the sensors are for.

Interesting info, I guess "ABS brakes" aren't as newfangled technology as the car companies would like you to believe

You guys got me curious, so I did some Googling and found an article in Hemmings, where I spotted the following quote: "An advanced safety feature came on every Mark III in 1970 - the Sure-Track Brake System offered rear-wheel-only anti-lock braking down to four mph". Mystery solved. Thanks again.
