1970 truck, 383 cid, best cam???? Please help!
I am restoring a 1970 chevy truck. The stock motor is a 255 hp 350 cid.
I want to retain the stock appearance and use the stock components. Same heads, intake, carb., exhaust manifolds, factory A/C and stock torque converter. The only thing I want to change is to put in a forged steel 383 rotating assembly for more torque. I am not interested in a fast truck just a quicker one with a good cruise speed. I have a 3.07 rear end and a turbo 350 with a small shift kit installed. Is a cam with 224 duration, .470 lift, and 110 deg. LSA a good choice? If so what torque and horse power can I expect from this combination? The heads are either 72 cc or 76 cc I don't know yet. The last 3 numbers on the heads are 126. This is just part of my initial research on this issue. I am a definate rookie in this department!
