1971 C10 Lowering

I have a 71 Chevy C10 and I would like to lower it, front and back. I've never lowered a truck before and I'm trying to figure out how much to lower it and how to decide how much to lower it. One thing that I am going to do before lowering, is to install a Big block motor , this adding some weight to the front end . Also, I need to know what the best way to lower these trucks would be.

Spend the money and buy dropped spindles. Don't cut the front coils. You'll be much happier.

It all depends on what the truck is gonna be used for...if it's gonna be "pampered" i'd say hammer it, throw a air suspension on it...but i'm guessing this is not the case...
If you look at the link above or at magazines that cater to trucks (i'm not sure you can "plug" here...you'll see that the 4-6 (4' in front,6' out back) is the most popular lowering kit...not to radical & still allows for the occasional "offroad" trip or haulin a big block for a future project...
Is your truck coils all around w/ trailing arm rear suspension or the leaf spring type??? In my experince with these trucks the coils on 4 corners are easier to do (lower) due to the absences of a "flipkit" needed to relocate the leaf spring pack under the rearend...
The front can be dropped (lowered) with a combination of lowered control arms, dropped spindles,& coils...same as the rear with "flipkits" & lowering blocks or lowering springs & blocks...
It all comes down to preference & practicallity...my advice, get a magazine & do some research first... ...Kimo...
