1971 Chevy Nova

My son bought a 1971 Chevy Nova from California with a small block 350 engine. The car over all is in good shape, but the interior headliner and etc. was painted black because at one time it was a green car. We tore the complete interior out to redo with original type. We then decided to put a new dash panel with gauges and a completely new wiring harness.

Here is my problem I have to replace the starter and I went to the local parts dealer with the old starter and I could not find one that works. The motor has 40 GM, 3970010 stamped on it. The only other numbers I could find on the motor were 35, 010, DNT1. The starter is a Delco Remy 1108798.

Does anyone know what year this engine is and what type of starter it would take?

Thanks & Have A Nice Day
