1971 ford ltd 460

Hey guys I'm in the process of putting together a 460 with super cobra jet heads together for my 71. I know these boats came with a 429 which is the same block as the 460. My question is am I going to have to find frame mounts for this pig or does this engine have a mount which bolts directly to the frame. This is my first big block so I'm not sure what I'm in for.
Thanks for the help.

mounts

all factory stuff for the 429 should bolt up. sometimes the accessorey pieces are different. ac p/s alternator etc are different from trucks , big cars, lincoln, merc to the 429 torino. the stuff for your body should be easy.

That could be a serious understatement. Please describe in detail the heads you intend to use.

I have a set of c8ve ready for it, but I have a set of ford motorsport super cobra jet heads at the machine shop. Anyone know of a place to get the frame mounts for this pig? I also seem to be having issue's locating a set of headers that I wont have to custom build.

Do the C8 heads have hardened valve seats. they also made a change in the rockers somewhere along that time

I have read that Hooker 6126's fit well but I have no personal experience with them in that body style.

Check with Dearborn Classics on the motor mounts. May be same as Torino.

the heads have the old style seats still...I dont want to dump a ton of money into the heads with the aluminum monsters getting worked on. The rockers look to be 1.7 ratio normal stud mount. Never thought of looking at dearborn I will have to check that out thanks

Frame mounts are a thru bolt type that goes into the frame. I pulled the 460 from a '75 Lincoln and I don't seem to remember any real type of frame 'mount'. I think the there was a pad that the motor mount sat into, and I think it was part of the frame.. I know that the motor mounts cross with the LTD so that should all be the same, and the motor mounts are available from the parts store
