1971 LT1 heads: are they high performance
I got a set of 71' lt1 heads. I am puting them on a 350 with a TPI closed loop injection system. I need to know if I can get some hp out of these heads.

certainly not high performance by today's standards. As inexpensive as they are, get yourself some 885 casting vortec heads. They can be found for $250 a pair used and they flow not only much more quantity, but much better quality air. They'll support up to about 350 hp as cast, much more in the hands of a good porter.

Those heads were rated at 370gross hp on the LT1s. They flow ok as cast. As stated above a set of vortecs will out flow them by a lot, they have better combustion chambers also. You can get some power out of the LTs with some port work but it might be more worth it to go with a set of vortecs.
