1971 Nova dash tach wiring

Hello Everyone.

I'm having an awfull time finding information about wiring for my 71 Nova dash tach. An earlier post of mine regarding this issue informed me that correct wiring harnesses were available or I could use an original SS harness (which I haven't been able to locate). My chassis manual has very little information about this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, How can I bench test my dash tach.

Thank you
Val

Is the tach in or out of the dash? If the tack is removed from dash, look on the back of it, you should find to terminals; one is for 12 volts and the other is for tach signal. Run a wire from the 12 V terminal to a 12 volt source, run another wire from the tach signal terminal to the (-) negative side of the coil. If the tach dial moves and registers RPM, you got her beat. If it doesn't work, tach could be faulty, printed circuit could be broken, no 12 volt source, check circuit with test light or ohm meter for continuity.
