1972 Chevy truck wiring
Does anyone know the wiring code of a 72 truck. I put a 2001 LS-1 engine and trans 4L60E into a 72. And I want to hookup the 72 steering column to the 2001 trans. So I can use the Netural/park safety switch, the backup switch and etc. The 72 has a wiring plug with 8 wires They are.
Black,Green,Black/Yellow,Purple,Brown,Blue, Black/Lt.blue and Black.

The shop manual for that truck shows (4) wires going to the neutral start, backup light switch.
(2) purple wires for the start circuit and (2) wires for the backup lights. (1) dark green and (1) light green. They have nothing to do with the type of engine or trans. Some of the wire colors you mention are for the turn-signal switch, which also have nothing to do with the engine or trans. vicrod
