re: 1972 Nova

From the pic it looks pretty solid panel wise, but can't really tell from them. 700 isn't a bad price for a nova that isn't rusted to hell, and has all the pieces. Look over closely and take a magnet to it to tell if it is a bondo baby. Replacing them floor pans will keep you busy. but first get it running and built up like you want and save the bodywork till funds allow and you got the other stuff done.

re: 1972 Nova

check the cowl!!! get under the dash and have someone with a flashlight shine down through the grill/vent on top. My old nova was rusted to crap in the cowl. But didn't find out till I got the creatures out of the car and crawled under the dash to look. That is not an area you want to weld or try and other fix for that matter. Other than that, looks good, nice price too

re: 1972 Nova

so then how did u fix it?

well today after i got off work.. my other uncle and i (a different one then the one who was supposed to go with me yesterday) went with me to actually go look at it..

we popped the hood.. and there was some rust in there.. not much.. mostly surface.. the frame up front looked painted black.. inner panels were missing (were told they were in the trunk.) and looked at the interrior .. its trashed inside... needs practicly the whole interrior replaced..

well pretty much.. he told me that it would take alot of work.. and alot of time.. and more money then i think it would need to get it in decent driving decent looking shape..

well called the guy told him that my uncle and i came up with an offer.. 500 bux w/o rims and he said ok.. now i told him id have to think it over with my uncle.. i wouldnt have a place to store it until my uncle can get this house there moving into.

he said hed keep it there to work at it..

he told he id have to be devoted and hed help me.. but if im not devoted then or doubt ful not too get it..

i have the money for it..

just no place to store it atm..

and am doubt ful on how much time / money i have to work on it.. i mean.. i do work 40 hrs a week..

soo

whatcha guys think?

Dan

re: 1972 Nova

You are on a budget, and want a decent street car. For $500.00 you had better jump on it.Try and get one that is already fixed up to presentable looks, decent SBC powered and you will spend $3500.00 +. If the interior is mint and the rest of the car is in excellent shape, expect tp pay even more.Novas are desireable cars and getting harder to find with each passing day.I say for $500.00 you can not go wrong.

re: 1972 Nova

Not trying to sway you one way or another, but my friend had a 68 Charger with a nice 383 magnum in it. He started redoing the body and had no place nice to store it and one thing led to another and he sold it.
Could still beat himself up over it. It was a car he really wanted but let a little thing like storage get in his way.
If you really want it, then chk into those cheapo (100-300 dollar) type garage/tent type things and put it in there till you get ready to redo it.
Or rent one of them storage buildings with the 8X15 storage space and park it in there. Only like 30 bucks a month.
Just meaning that if you really want it, then dont let it pass you buy, but if theres any serious doubts, then skip it. HG

re: 1972 Nova

guys.. its starting to bother me. im getting teased. im at work.. sitting at someones desk to use it till i get my own place to be..

i do want the car.. but i dont know if i should get it.. but i keep seeing things and all telling me teasing me and stuff.. at this desk.. i look to my left..

there is a calender with a picture of a car on it.. guess what the car is..

its a 1970 chevy nova.. painted kinda dark maroon / dark brown.. with a yenko strip and above the grille.. it says duce..

being teased sux.

so far i have $575 saved. if i dont buy the car, by next week ill have atleast $1,000 saved.

so im thinking ill just save the money. im sure another nova will pop up somewhere.

re: 1972 Nova

Get over there and lay the $500 down, now!

My car looks pretty much the same as yours and I have idiots stopping every weekend asking me to sell it. They almost always offer around $1500. If you don't buy it now someone else will and you'll be kickin' yourself later while you look at the $3500 price tags on slightly better cars.
