Those are pretty weak heads- they are 1972 400 2-bbl. heads w/pressed in rocker studs and no guideplates. They have the smaller 1.96" intake valves instead of the 2.11" valves. The exhaust valve is 1.77", like many heads from that era (excepting the 4X/6X and other later heads that has 2.1" x 1.66" valves).

Bottom line, a set of 6X-4 heads (Mid-'75-'77 350ci; '77-'79 W72 400ci) would be a better choice, they can be milled about 0.050" for a bit more compression if needed.

FT pistons, cam depends on many things, like what the rear gear is, weight of the car, stick or AT, how you want to use it, etc.

Id suggest some reading:

Butler- http://www.jbp-pontiac.com/

Kens- http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/pontiac...chineshop.html

Nunzi- http://www.nunzi-pontiac-expert.com/

Rock & Roll Engineering- http://pontiacpower.com/

SD Performance- http://www.sdperformance.com/

And there are magazines on Pontiac on the web:

There are other sites, you can do a search on google for them. The magazines have tech sections w/articles, etc.
