1975 Corvette Brake Problem

Recently purchased a 1975 Corvette and I am having some issues with the brakes. I was driving the car and the brakes pretty much stopped working and a brake warning light came on. There does not seem to be any leaks and the brake fluid level was unaffected. I thought it was most likely the master cylinder so I changed it. I bench bled the new MC and the brakes after install but still have no pedal.

When the engine is not running, the pedal is firm but once the car is started there is nothing there-the pedal just drops to the floor. I have done much reading but I am not sure where to go next. Any advice would be appreciated.

Two things come to mind. Air in the system and or bad rubber hoses to the calipers. Was the car sitting for a long time? C3 vettes have a 4 piston design at each caliper. Try bleeding the brake system starting at the right rear. There are two bleed ports per caliper. Bleed the port farthest from the hose inlet first then the port closest to the hose. Righr rear, LR, RF and LF. I have heard of the rubber supply hoses collasping due to age. Also the new silicon brake fuilds dont mix well with stock DOT 3 fluid. Good luck

Fixed

Thanks for the advice. Although I had tried to bleed the brakes, I still had air in the lines. I used a Motiv Power Bleeder and was able to easily get the air from the lines, flush all the old fluid and get the brakes working well in a little over an hour. I don't want to sound like a commercial for Motiv but this is a great product and took all the hassle out of the process.
