I use to work in Chevy dealership between 74-78. Last year for a 454 in a A body was '74. In '75, catalytic converters started and they were too restrictive for their size and only the Impala's got the 454 because it could be fitted with a bigger cat. Not even the Corvette was available with the 454 in '75.

Not so. In 75 the Monte was offered with a 145 or 155 hp 350, 175 hp 400 or a 215 hp 454
The 454 was dropped for the 76 model year and a 305 was added

I could be mistaken but I believe your source of info is a typo. I worked in the parts dept. I know the '74 was the last year for a 454 in a Chevelle, which is the "A" body. The Monte' Carlo was also a "A" body. All parts for a Monte Carlo where listed as Chevelle parts unless it was specific, such as sheetmetal and trim. The mechanics were the same between the cars otherwise as far as the parts book was concerned.

The 454 was offered in the chevelle and monte carlo in 75 with 215hp. You are correct that it was not offered in the vette. I had to dig up some manual I had to confirm this about the chevelle but I do have more than 1 source stating for the chevelle and the monte carlo
