1978 ford te cortina engine mod

hi guys my name is stretch im rebuilding a 1978 Ford TE Cortina witch i dont know a lot about. any help would be great im based in Mackay Queensland Australia. at present im chasing a better moter any sudgestions?

a cortina is a small car i think in the states the equivellment to a pinto or just a bit smaller

The Cortina was quite a popular car back in the sixties, in the UK.
I learned to drive in one.
