1979 ford alternator wiring 3 wire*

Were in the middle of building a 1940 truck. And we got a 1979 ltd donor car we striped the car a while ago, and I wasn't involved in getting the motor out, and they hacked all the wires on it. I got most of it all back together, but the alternator, I was wondering if their was anyone out there that could tell me what wires go where so we can here this thing run. It's has three studs out the back of it. And if anyone could tell me where the three wires from the distributor goes to as well that would be great....josh

There were a few different Duraspark ignition modules as well.
Most of them can be identied by either stamping number (if OE) which should be something like E1AF-12A299-A1A

OR

By the color of the wire retainer on the module. The "common" one for 1979 -- 49 states and Canada had the blue retainer. NAPA Echlin #TP40 or Standard (Blue Streak) #LX203

I'll attach a picture.

There was also a design change that eliminated one wire from the original design, so don't be concerned with that.

NAPA and Blue Streak also sell wiring pigtails for these modules.
