1980 gmc 1 ton flywheel

it has 292 but want put early years 283 in it so what flywheel do i use for the v8.. can i use any v8 flywheel on this ? tranny 2 wheel sm456 4 speed with low any help would be grate thanks

Use the 292 flywheel. Same thing.

I'm hoping 283 for the better. They said 292 will not fit. That why I need to know flywheel .. Plus 282 is not stock

Any reason you dont want a 350?
The 350 is cheaper,better work engine with more use able torque.

I have 283 no 350 and not stock it has cam ..30 over Flat top piston headers new 4barl intake. Any help be nice

I would really like to talk you out of using a 283 for a work truck. The 292 makes all of its power below 3500 RPM. The 283 doesnt make much torque until 3500 rpm. the 292 has a 4 inch stroke,the 283 has a 3 inch stroke. the 454 has a 4 inch stroke,,,,
I would sell the 283 and buy a 350.The cam in your 283 will make it worse for a truck engine.

Check again. 292 and 283 use the same flywheel.

Y keep 292 ? Any help on flywheel the 283 from 65 to 67 years if this helps
